Reasons why I love Davis.

I recommend freshmen knowing what they’re going to do in their 4 years in college. I regret not doing that my freshmen year. As a matter of fact, sophomore year for me is almost ending and now I have pretty much decided I want to minor in something. If I had decided that last year, my schedule probably would have been much more smooth. Oh well…
I couldnt agree more with your advice. I am the PRIME example of this. But then again it is very difficult to know what you want to major in/ minor in as a freshman bc youre still a newbie and learning the ways. You dont realize all the different majors/minors that are offered. Also, I do not think you really get a sense of what a major is, until you take the upper division classes. Plus for science majors the general chem, bio, math, and physics series weed out a lot of students who realize college science classes are a lot more difficult than highschool science classes. So yes your college years/ schedules will be much smoother if you know from the start what you want to do, but dont worry if you dont know, or change your mind bc im pretty sure the majority of students at davis change their major at some point in the four (or more) years here.
My best advice though is to have an idea if you want to get a BA or a BS. And take GE classes to get a perspective on different subjects. Because who knows, maybe a GE class will change your mind of what you want to major in!
GOODLUCK :)

Welcome to Davis.
Black Bear Diner has newspapers for menus. So we acted like prudish, dignified English gentlemen.
I sent this picture to Alyssa on Facebook for New Years. And now I am sending it to all of you.
